Are you at the office and you are so bored that you’re looking out the window at the people on the street? To relieve your boredom, you could play a nice online game – but the guys in IT blocked access to all the good games sites. What you could do is take a voyage in to the depths of space. To do this you need just one thing: the right piece of software.

In this situation the right piece of software is the aptly named Cosmic Voyage application. This is a screensaver that will take you on a never-ending voyage into the depths of space. You will travel through the vastness of space and see stars, suns and nebulae.

From Cosmic Voyage’s configuration pane you can customize your space voyage. You can play with the movement speed, the field of view, the number of suns/stars/nebulae, select the color of the suns/nebulae, select the way the camera rotates, and select which cosmic bodies you want to see and which not.

If you’re worried that Cosmic Voyage is so mesmerizing you will lose track of time, you can enable to “Show Time” option. Once you do so, Cosmic Voyage will display the date and time in the bottom left hand corner.

Cosmic Voyage can launch your default music player and play music in the background when it is running.

Download – the download weighs in at some 900KB. This is good news; it means that getting Cosmic Voyage off the web will only take a moment, even if you are on a less than spectacular internet connection.
Installation – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, Cosmic Voyage provides support for Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, and Vista. During the installation process you are asked if you want to put desktop shortcuts on the screen; this will put a Configuration and a Run shortcut on the screen.
Limitations – logo overlay and reminder message in the trial version.
